LEGAL INFORMATION
As of 1st January 2007 Companies in the UK must include certain regulatory information on their websites and in their email footers or they will breach the Companies Act and risk a fine.
Many corporate websites, emails and stationery still do not comply with the relevant requirements and could face a fine of up to £1,000 and, from October 2008, an additional fine of £300 for each day that the failure to
comply continues.
If your Company has a websitIf your company has a website or sends emails then these requirements apply to
you even if you do not sell products or services online. Companies who fail to
state the company's name, registered number, place of registration and
registered office address in their websites, email footers and business
stationery such as Letterheads, Compliment Slips and Order Forms are in breach
of the Companies Act and may occur a fine.
However, websites need not display the required information on every page, it
